Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location, serenity included in the price.
The Singel Hotel is located on the Singel Canal, and guests will find the location perfect, with the lovely scenery of the boats passing by to induce a serene, tranquil mood, that will leave one feeling relaxed, and happy.
positive:
Lots of luggage? No problem.
Guests travelling with a lot of luggage will find that hotels are not always accommodating, but the Singel Hotel is. With a lift, and luggage storage, guests are able to enjoy their stay without tripping over their bags in their rooms, or straining their backs lugging them up the stairs.
positive:
Not the norm in Amsterdam.
As many know, hotels in Amsterdam are usually filled with only small rooms, so a surprise waits at Hotel Singel. Guests are able to choose larger rooms, standard rooms, or even ‘the smallest room’, to stay in.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Summertime biting friends.
In the summer months, everyone’s favourite friend likes to make an appearance – the mosquito. Added, is the location of Singel Hotel, so near to the canal. Guests are recommended to keep their windows closed at night, to avoid the unpleasantness. Mosquito repellant is available at all of the nearby supermarkets.
negative:
Novelty bathrooms.
Guests may be surprised to find that the bathroom floor is one level, with no separation between the shower and toilet, so some water may get out of the shower area, and wet the floor around the toilet.
negative:
Make direct bookings.
Guests should be prepared for some sort of issue to arise if they do not make their bookings directly with the hotel itself. Third party booking agencies unfortunately cause a lot of grievances for guests, as there are always ‘technical difficulties’ which leave the guests shorthanded.
