    About Langtry Manor Hotel

This charming manor house boasts luxury accommodations and a unique history, having been built by Edward VII for his mistress Lillie Langtry in 1877. Each of their elegantly designed rooms has a personal bar, flatscreen TV, free Wi-Fi, and hairdryer. The rooms are uniquely furnished, with their most prized room being The King Room, named, as one might expect, because that was the room the King used to stay in. Free parking is available in their on-site lot. Guests can relax in their landscaped grounds. Meeting and banquet space is available. The hotel's restaurant serves gourmet food for breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner. Every Saturday night they hold a six-course Edwardian dinner party. The hotel is in a somewhat secluded location surrounded by trees, with the shoreline a five-minute walk away. A twenty-minute walk will take guests to the centre of Bournemouth, where many shops, restaurants, and attractions await.

    Positive Reviews

    positive:

    The history is fascinating.

Many guests remarked that the hotel serves almost as a museum to the Edwardian period romance between Lillie Langtry and Edward VII. They loved the historic setting, and felt it added something to their stay an ordinary hotel could not. It also added a certain romance to the general ambiance. The staff is happy to give tours and share history, even to guests only there to have tea.

    positive:

    The food is outstanding.

Previous guests were thrilled with the elegantly prepared food served at Langtry's Restaurant, where the attentive waitstaff dresses in period costume. They were also quite pleased with the breakfast delivered to their room in the morning, which featured fresh squeezed orange juice and pastries hot from the oven.

    positive:

    The rooms are beautiful.

Guests reported being able to truly unwind in their luxurious accommodations. They are decorated with Edwardian style furnishings, but with all the modern touches needed for a comfortable night's stay.

    Negative Reviews

    negative:

    The beds are hard.

More than a few guests were unhappy with the mattresses. They complained of rock hard beds that kept them from sleeping through the night and left them with sore backs. Not every guest had this issue, and it's possible that some of the rooms have better mattresses.

    negative:

This 19th century hotel sometimes shows its age.

Many guests reported things to be a little run down or shabby here and there. They complained of issues like wear marks on the furniture, chipped paint, and loose fixtures. Several pointed out this was a shame, as it is such a beautiful hotel, and hoped that a renovation may be coming soon.

    negative:

Be sure you booked what you really wanted.

Though this fact is clearly stated on the hotel's website, some guests were disappointed that the room they booked was not one of the rooms in the main manor house, but in the attached lodge.
