The Farmhouse at Mackworth hotel presents a fully refurbished boutique style hotel with ten individually decorated rooms. Each room features quirky and trendy design pieces such as unique head boards or furniture pieces to delight the eye while still offering hotel standards such as flat screen TV’s and complimentary in-room teas & coffees.

The original 18th century building was once a working farmhouse and the new owners have retained much of the original architectural features, blending them with new design touches. Those interested in historic buildings will love the accentuated features including the preserved original stone fireplace and the exposed oak support beams.

The downstairs area of the hotel is presented in an interesting open plan layout that mixes a bar area with an open dining area, reminiscent of many old-time pubs, with a mix of long bench seating and mismatched arty furniture pieces, creating an interesting and unique space.

The hotel includes a breakfast with your room rate but this is not a full cooked breakfast as one might assume. The complimentary breakfast is limited to cereals and light continental-style options. Guest that enjoy a full English breakfast are required to pay full menu prices.

A common complaint among guests is the slow service in the restaurant during busy periods, with long waiting times on even the simplest of orders.

On some nights the bar area can be very noisy, as the hotel likes to entertain with very loud dance music that is definitely not to everyone’s tastes. Taking advantage of the seating in the library room can help to alleviate the noise or booking a room that is furthest from the bar area.
