Some refurbished rooms
Reviews of this hotel aren't exactly glowing. But, on the plus side, many of the rooms have now been remodelled as part of an on-going renovation project. It's worth asking for one of the new rooms as guests are generally quite pleased. Expect new air-con units, flat-screen TVs, and new flooring.
positive:
Nice staff
Despite the staff having to work around on-going construction, guests tend to find their attitude is friendly and welcoming. Individual members of the front desk team are often singled out for specific ways in which they have helped guests.
positive:
Good location
Despite some problems with this hotel, many guests feel that it does, at least, offer a convenient location. Plus points include its proximity to shops and restaurants, as well as Imperial Beach and the Mexican border.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Older rooms
Some of the rooms in this hotel have yet to benefit from any renovations. If you're unlucky enough to be allocated one of these, you can expect multiple problems - uncomfortable beds, bad smells, and bugs are some of the issues mentioned by previous guests.
negative:
Disappointing pool area
Several guests were left feeling disappointed by the pool area at this hotel, often describing is as small and ill-maintained. There doesn't appear to any seating either - and thanks to the numerous ants in the area, it's unlikely you'll want to sit on the floor.
negative:
Construction
The on-going construction can be viewed as a good thing, as it does mean that this hotel will improve in the future. However, in the meantime, you can expect a host of related issues. The renovations seem to have been going on for a long time. Plus, the hotel doesn't seem to have lowered its rates to compensate for the mess.
