The vaulted structure that is still still present today was built during Byzantine Era following the detoriation of the initial building. The remains also suggest that the building saw use during Ottoman Era as well. The examination of the hot spring water that is present in Gölcük at Kocaeli-Gölcük road’s 8km was made by Prof. Dr. M. Zeki KARAGÜLLE, Department Head of Medical Ecology and Hydroclimatology at Istanbul University. Prof. Karagülle’s examinations points that the Ayazma Hot Spring water has regulatory effect on sadative analgesic endocrine functions and has positive impact on many diseases.
