Parking in Brighton & Hove is notoriously tricky, so it's handy that the hotel has some off street parking available. It's limited, so there spaces aren't guaranteed, but if you can score yourself one it'll make life much easier.

The décor needs updating.
The whole of Courtlands could use a revamp. The carpets in the corridors are a little worn, the skirting boards and walls are quite scuffed and a lick of paint is desperately required everywhere. Similarly, the bathrooms need work. Some of the radiators a

You won't have the comfiest sleep.
Some of the beds here are not at all comfortable. The mattresses are small, quite hard and lumpy and the pillows overly firm too. The frames are quite rickety as well.

Getting to your room is a trial.
Although there is a lift, several of the rooms can be a bit of a journey away, as the sprawling old building is set across several corridors and staircases.
