Tal Y Don Hotel (Barmouth, United Kingdom)

This pub/hotel is very conveniently located in Barmouth where it is a popular meeting place with local people who seem to be friendly to visitors staying here. The staff receive a great deal of praise from guests.

The location close to the beach, at two minutes' walk, and similarly to the station, was well liked by guests. The bar, whilst popular and busy, was not rowdy, and guests who stayed the night reported that there was no intrusion of noise and all was quiet in their room.

The breakfast, and the meals in general were found to be excellent. The real ales on offer in the bar were much appreciated. Guests felt that their stay here represented good value.

The most frequently voiced criticism was the lack of parking at the hotel, and guests will do well to ask for advice from staff on registering as to the best places to look, as there is apparently reasonably priced parking available.

Several guests found their room to be too hot, although others found theirs to be chilly. It is an old building, and not a temperature controlled environment. There was a bit of a wait for service at breakfast, guests had the impression that the service could have been better organised when the hotel was full.

The Tal Y Don Hotel has recently been acquired by new owners, and guests report that in some respects it could do with some updating. As an example it was reported that a lack of water pressure meant that the shower useless. Guests who informed the new owners that the bed felt uncomfortable and lumpy were listened to, and had the impression that the problem would be addressed.
