Guests can quickly access the beach from the hotel and also have many restaurants and shops available within walking distance. The hotel further serves as a convenient base for sightseeing, because the John Pennekamp State Park is only four miles away and the Rain Barrel Sculpture Gallery 17 miles from the hotel.

Guests found that the spa, the diving center, water sports, the heated pool and the bars were well-maintained and provided plenty of activities to engage in.

Many guests enjoyed breakfast, which they found to be quite extensive and tasty. The popular Gus' Grille left many guests very satisfied due to its fresh ingredients, particularly the dishes featuring locally caught seafood. Enjoying the sunset over dinner from the restaurant's patio or at the pool bar was an experience many guests recommended partaking in.

Guests reported that the rooms were in need of renovation, as they displayed more wear and tear than would be expected from a Marriott property. They cited stained and frayed carpets, ripped curtains and chipped and worn furniture.
