Positive Reviews
positive:
Nice grounds
The grounds of the hotel tend to please guests. There are far worse places to stay than in a hotel overlooking a canal. Guests with children mention that the play area in the grounds of the restaurant is safe and secure and well away from the road and car park.
positive:
Comfortable rooms
Guests find the rooms at the Premier Inn Halifax South offer impressive surroundings. The rooms are clean and comfortable as you might reasonably expect and the choice of amenities cover the basics and more. Some guests mention being able to see barges passing along the canal.
positive:
Superb hospitality
The staff can't seem to do enough for guests. Reviews suggest that you'll find the staff is kind, helpful and genuinely welcoming. Plus, reviews highlight examples of how staff go the extra mile. One elderly guest was given a car ride up the short hill to the restaurant.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Inconsistent dining experiences
While it's fair to say that many guests were impressed by the standards in the restaurant, other guests were not quite so impressed. Guests report issues with food quality and slow service. Another problem is that alternative dining spots in the immediate area are few and far between.
negative:
Price should include extras
A number of guests found the room rates were a little high for what is essentially a budget hotel. The low rates you may see advertised on TV were certainly not accessible to all guests. Given the higher than perhaps expected rates, guests feel that the premium Wi-Fi and breakfast should be included.
negative:
Tricky temperatures
Several guests bemoan the lack of air-conditioning in the rooms and others complain that they were unable to regulate the heating to get their room warm enough. This issue may or may not be a problem depending on the weather.
