Positive Reviews
positive:
Lovely 18th century building with lots of charm.
Lamothe House was built in 1839, and five of the rooms here have been carefully restored and furnished with antiques to pay homage to the building's heritage and the historic area it's in. You won't find another hotel quite like it.
positive:
Excellent location in the French Quarter.
If you want to explore the French Quarter of New Orleans and stay right in the thick of it this is the place for you. Wandering around the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood and its many restaurants and bars is easy from here.
positive:
Great staff help you get the most from your stay.
The friendly staff here have a wealth of information on the local area, so just ask about things to do and see and you'll get all the inside knowledge. They also do an awesome job running this hotel!
Negative Reviews
negative:
Bit of a musty smell throughout the premises.
This old building has advantages and disadvantages, with one of the cons being that it does not smell particularly fresh. There is a faint dank scent in the air, and air fresheners in the hallways would go a long way.
negative:
Old furnishings look nice but aren't practical.
Many of the rooms here have antique furniture, however these pieces are not always that practical. Built for a different era, some wardrobes aren't deep enough to hang clothes in properly and old wooden chairs aren't too comfortable to sit on.
negative:
Sketchy Wi-Fi makes staying online a problem.
Checking your emails and checking up on social media accounts can be a pain at Lamothe House if you rely on the free Wi-Fi. Even when you have a connection the speed seems to fluctuate wildly, so it might pay to use the free Wi-Fi in nearby cafes.
