Guests love the complimentary afternoon wine and snacks. Even better is the champagne brunch served each morning. Both are served at the 1661 Inn, and allow guests to enjoy ocean views while relaxing outside.

Overpriced, Old Hotel
Some guests don't appreciate the historic hotel and complain that it's a bit pricey for a very old room. Furnishings are antique with an eclectic décor but some say the chairs are uncomfortable and the amenities are few. While some describe the resort as shabby chic, others say it's just shabby and overpriced.
negative:
Rooms Vary Widely
Because the resort is made up of several different properties, room sizes can vary widely. Guests in the original hotel will find a traditional Victorian-style layout, with smaller rooms and long hallways and rooms on the upper floors may be a bit small.
negative:
No Air Conditioning
Like many hotels on Block Island, there is no air conditioning here. Some rooms have ceiling fans, and additional fans may be requested. Many rooms enjoy an ocean breeze but some get a bit stuffy and hot.
