Positive Reviews
positive:
A brilliant location for sightseers...
Few guests fail to mention the hotel's extremely central location, just two blocks from Marienplatz and a short walk from the Old Town, Hofbrau House, Viktualienmarkt Market, and lots of pubs, shops and restaurants. There are U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations nearby as well, reasonably priced private parking in the courtyard, and free bicycles at the front desk for guests who prefer two wheels.
positive:
Friendly service and a fabulous breakfast...
The staff are widely described as warm and friendly, knowledgeable about the area and genuinely interested in seeing that guests enjoy their city. The traditional Bavarian breakfast buffet receives many rave reviews for the wide variety of nicely presented dishes, and the outdoor patio is a pleasant spot to linger with a drink.
positive:
Clean, comfortable rooms with history...
The hotel is 500 years old, and the rooms vary in size, amenities, and decor. Most guests, however, find their accommodations to be reasonably modern, clean, and comfortable, with a fair value for money ratio.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Light sleepers, stay at the back...
Though rooms at the back of the building are generally considered quiet, light sleepers are generally disturbed by street noise in rooms facing the front, as the hotel is located on a busy street in between a 24-hour McDonald's and a beer garden. Also, the Glockenspiel starts chiming in the very early hours.
negative:
Size matters, for some...
Drivers note that the parking lot is not designed to accommodate very large vehicles. Some guests find their bedrooms or shower cubicles uncomfortably small as well.
negative:
A hot night in Munich...
Some parts of the building are not air-conditioned, an issue in the height of summer. Guests have also reported a weak Wi-Fi signal as well, though it works well for most.
