Situated in a commanding position overlooking Kanapitsa Bay, the Plaza Skiathos Hotel offers family-friendly resort-style facilities in a compact property within walking distance of the beach. The rooms have contemporary furniture with cool tile on the floors, and feature en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, minibars, TV’s with satellite channels and hairdryers. Each also has a private balcony or terrace, some with sea views. Plaza Skiathos has a wonderful pool terrace with lovely pastoral views over the bay. There is a games area with pool tables, table tennis and more. There is free Wi-Fi available throughout the property There are several dining areas on-site. All make terrific use of the great view site, and serve delicious Greek cuisine, and also some international favourites. Aside from the pool terrace, the nearby Kanipitsa Beach is the star attraction. It is barely 150 yards away.
The proximity to Kanapitsa Beach was by far what guests most enjoyed about Plaza Skiathos. The beach is described as lovely and secluded, with not too many crowds, and only a minute or two from the hotel on foot. Also mentioned was the view. Since the hotel is at a bit of an elevation it is particularly good.
While opinions were inevitably mixed, the majority definitely gave the breakfast buffet offered by the hotel the thumbs up. Most described it as varied, presented well, and enough to keep them going until lunch.
Despite being relatively quiet, guests mentioned that there was a wide range of watersports available. Some suggest renting a boat in order to be able to visit the surrounding areas.
This was by far the major complaint against the hotel. Many guests describe the décor and furnishings as both out of date, and also showing excessive signs of wear and tear. In their minds both the rooms and public areas are in major need of renovation.
While unfortunately not unusual at many hotels, a couple of guests complained that their requested double bed was merely two singles pushed together. They found this most uncomfortable, and nothing like an actual double bed.
There were unfortunately a fair number of guests who complained about mould in their bathrooms. While general complaints about cleanliness were not common, it seems that many were not happy with the state of their bathroom.
