Hotels, especially on the coast, can be expensive in the San Diego area and while some guests thought the Portofino Beach Inn a little on the funky side, most found the accommodations adequate and comfortable and said that the hotel represented good value given the beach side location.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Drab & Dated
Formerly a Quality Inn, the Portofino Beach Inn is undergoing a complete renovation which, for some guests, is long overdue. Complaints included dirty and worn carpets in the lobby, dated furniture, small and cramped rooms, old TVs with fuzzy reception and a generally drab feel to the building. Complaints of mold, mildew and a generally stale smell to the facility were reported and some guests noted that the pool was out of service.
negative:
Uninvited Guests
Some guests complained that their rooms were invaded by ants, others found silverfish in the bathtubs.
negative:
Tight Parking
The parking spots were a little too narrow for some guests who complained that navigating between two posts was very difficult and sometimes required several attempts.
