Positive Reviews
positive:
Lovely tranquil surroundings
It was almost certainly the lovely surroundings that guests enjoyed most about their stay at Melva Suites. The hotel was described as being in a commanding position, with terrific views of the surrounding countryside. But more than the views, guests seemed to appreciate the quietness and the sense of serenity.
positive:
Excellent restaurant on-site
The hotel is a little remote, so some guests seemed a bit apprehensive about their stay. What would they do if they didn't like the food? Would they have to drive for miles to find a decent restaurant? In the end their worries were for naught, since the food was universally described as excellent.
positive:
Great family-run atmosphere
Guests mentioned that the hotel was a family-run affair, and that the hosts, the rest of the family and the staff were all excellent and very much engaged in their work.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No in-room tea or coffee making facilities
It seems that Melva is one of the hotels that have decided not to put tea and coffee making facilities in their rooms. There were a few guests who definitely noticed their absence, and wished that they were able to make themselves a quick cuppa with a minimum of fuss.
negative:
Restaurant is unheated
A couple of guests travelling in the winter pointed out that the restaurant seemed to be completely unheated. Since the dining area was a fairly large space it could get terribly cold.
negative:
A bit too remote for some
While some liked the remote location, others felt that it was a big hassle to have to get into their cars to go anywhere at all. They certainly did not recommend that guests without their own car stay here, since they would be well and truly stuck.
