Positive Reviews
positive:
Wide range of on-site activities.
Guests who stayed at Mar Hall had plenty of sporting and leisure activities to choose from and did not have to leave the hotel grounds in order to find something to do. Many visited the spa centre where they enjoyed swimming and having specialist treatments whilst golf lovers took to the 18-hole course.
positive:
A very scenic and peaceful setting.
The hotel is surrounded by extensive private grounds which also feature a well-maintained golf course. Guests enjoyed going for walks along the various paths and also complimented the wonderful views of the River Clyde as well as the Kilpatrick Hills which can be seen in the distance.
positive:
Spacious and well-appointed rooms.
The guest rooms have been described as spacious and comfortable equipped with all the necessary amenities. Most of the guests were pleased with the overall decor of their rooms including nice pieces of furniture and quality bed linen and upholstery.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Bit of a trek to the rooms.
Some guests whose rooms were located in the annex of the building complained about having to walk through the spa and gym as well as through a series of corridors in order to get to their accommodation. If you have mobility issues it would be advisable to ask for a room closer to reception.
negative:
Unimpressive spa.
The hotel’s spa facilities have been described as quite dated and tired by some of the guests who were also disappointed to find that there was no Jacuzzi or hot tubs which are standard features in most spa centres.
negative:
Lack of scenic views.
Not all rooms have pleasant views as some guests were disappointed to find that they could only see the top of a roof or the side alley from their windows even though the hotel is surrounded by picturesque gardens.
