Positive Reviews
positive:
Great central location
This was by far the best aspect of the hotel in the guests minds. La Bricola is between St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, right in the very heart of Venice. Guests find that all the sights are within easy walking distance, as is the Grand Canal, from where they can get vaporetti to other locations in the lagoon.
positive:
Friendly and helpful hotel manager
While there were some contrarian opinions, the hotel manager and his staff get high marks for their friendliness and abilities. Their English was described as weak, but they always seemed to try their very best to make a guests stay as pleasant as possible.
positive:
The spa baths
While only some rooms have them, guests who were allocated rooms with spa baths were very happy indeed to be able to sit back and relax in a warm bath. There was even piped music.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Quite difficult to find
It is almost inevitable that a hotel in Venice is difficult to find, and La Bricola is no exception. Guests describe it as exceptionally hard to find, so it is advisable to print out a detailed map with its exact position before embarking.
negative:
Extremely small rooms
While it seems rooms differ in size, going by guest comments some rooms are very small indeed - pretty much just big enough to hold the bed and a small area around it. Guests who like their space are advised to book a larger room if possible.
negative:
Exceptionally hard beds
While bed firmness is very much a matter of personal taste, and complaints about it are almost inevitable, in this case both the number of comments and their vociferousness seem to indicate that they may be very hard indeed.
