Positive Reviews
positive:
Good location in the tourist heartland
Guests felt that the location was perfect for tourists, rather than business people. It is in Gamla Stan, a preserved historic district extremely popular with tourists. Guests seemed to like exploring the area, and also mentioned that the Royal Palace was also nearby, and very impressive. Finally, quite a few felt it was a relatively easy walk to Stockholm's Central Station.
positive:
Unique and charming décor
Guests clearly liked the décor of the hotel, especially in the rooms. It was, essentially, described as “quirky”, and while this type of design-ethos is often not to everyone's liking, the hotel seems to have succeeded here, since the overwhelming majority found it to be very attractive.
positive:
Pretty decent breakfast
A number of guests mentioned that they were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the breakfast they received. It was said to be tasty and offer a good variety.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Ding dong, ding dong
A few guests were really not happy with the infernal “ding dongs” from a nearby bell tower that often disturbed their sleep. They reported that, unfortunately, it was not simply a case of them ringing on Sunday's, but every 15 minutes, day, and more importantly night, every day of the week.
negative:
Lack of air conditioning
Quite a number of guests staying in mid summer commented that the rooms really could have done with an air conditioner. While they did have fans, guests did not find these to be sufficient when the temperatures really started to rise.
negative:
Starting to show some wear and tear
Not all the guests were completely happy with the condition of the décor and furnishings. They seemed to feel that the antiques and other furniture were lovely, but tended to obscure regular wear and tear that really should be addressed.
