Two impeccably preserved buildings, authentic examples of local architecture of the early 1900s, inspired their new owner to restore them back to their original, authentic form while retaining all their elements, such as the traditional inner courtyard. When searching for the right name for his venture, a timely reminder from a watchmaker to pick-up his “Koukos”, an old cuckoo clock he had left for repair, inspired him to name this place “Koukos”. And that's how Koukos was born; a landmark of taste and hospitality in the center of Rhodes, which for at least two decades has been "a place that really works like a clock". The Niochori district (also known as Marasi meaning “the neighbourhood”) in the city of Rhodes and the northern tip of the island was famous for its picturesque houses and alleys, covered with "chochlaki", white and black round pebbles. At its center is the church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, opposite to the preserved mansion that today houses Koukos. Just a few steps from the sea, the Aquarium, the Casino and the port, but also the Old Town, Koukos could not be in a more convenient location.
