We found a derelict house in the Old Town and turned it into a hotel. While restoring it, we fell in love with the house, its past and its people. Guests are welcome the way it used to be: We care for and about them, as if they are visitors to our own home. Long lasting connections are often forged.  More than a hotel, the boutique experience at Kókkini Porta Rossa is a design delight: old world beauty, quality and style matched with modern touches and comforts. Perfectly situated within the walls of Rhodes old town, the proudly restored 14th century knight’s residence with its antiques, artifacts and carpets is a jaw-dropping luxury sensation in itself. We named the suites and other areas of the hotel after people who lived in the house.  Six beautifully appointed, spacious suites display a passion for comfort, décor and class. Minute attention to detail, fascinating pieces of art, colourful courtyards, shining silverware, “dramatic” bathrooms, appliances and fittings belong to a class way above commercial hotels. A multi-course breakfast of regional, delicious offerings to satisfy the pickiest of eaters is a daily surprise for its creativity. Lovingly prepared dishes served in a shady courtyard, beautifully presented together with the stories behind the food, take guests to a trip around East Mediterranean and the Orient. Evenings set a perfectly lighted space in the garden.   Complimentary wines and drinks are served, while the day’s highlights are being discussed and ideas for the dinner to follow exchanged. If the mood is right, Paris may share with the rest of us some of his piano moments. Our guests’ experience would be less than complete, if not for our thoughtful care, our infectious passion for Rhodes, the tailored recommendations, the user-friendly tablet with its treasure of information and daily personalized itineraries.
