About Hostal Flamenco
In a fantastic position overlooking Alcudia Bay and its small craft harbour, the Hostal Flamenco Hostel offers budget rooms to travellers looking to be in a central position close to the beach and nightlife.
The rooms are fairly basic, but do feature private bathrooms
and work desks. Most have a private balcony, with the upper floor rooms featuring
incredible views over the Mediterranean.
There are limited public facilities, but there is a staffed reception, a lobby seating area and even a small library.
A simple breakfast is available on-site, but there are many great café and restaurants in the area to suit every taste and budget. In season, a bar and small nightclub open on-site.
The main attraction in the area is undoubtedly Alcudia Beach with its many miles of sand. It is mere steps away from the hostel. Palma is across the island, and 40 miles away from the Hostal Flamenco.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Fantastic view across the bay
The view across the bay was by far the most positive aspect of the Flamenco. Guests with rooms on the upper floors, especially, found that they view took their breath away. Many guests were clearly not expecting a budget option to have such fantastic views.
positive:
Great restaurants and nightlife
This was a major reason guests chose this hostel. It is very centrally located and guests describe just being able to step out the doors and have a wide range of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from. Also mentioned, of course, is the proximity to the beach. The hostel is just one road back.
positive:
Good budget option
There were no shortages of complaints about the hostel, but a thread that seems to run through the reviews was that, as a budget option in a fantastic central location, it represented great value for money for most guests.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A bit rough around the edges
While some rooms have been recently renovated, those that have not were described as being in a very poor state. It was not just that the rooms were dated, which they were, but also that they were in a poor state of repair, causing things not to work as intended.
negative:
Tiny lift
While the lift was welcomed by some, since it allowed them to avoid the stairs, some guests describe it as tiny, unable to really take more than one person, and in a poor state of repair. Some were even reluctant to sue it for fear of it being unsafe.
negative:
Very thin walls
Perhaps it was only to be expected in a budget hostel, but quite a few guests mention that the rooms walls are “paper thin” - so sound travels relatively unhindered from one rooms to another. Guests should consider bringing earplugs.
