Rooms are a decent size
Again and again guests commented that the rooms, while not enormous, where well above what they expected. Whether a couple, or larger group, they all seemed to be quite happy with how much room they had for their party.
Set in a commanding position, with distant views to the Aegean, the Hotel Giannoulaki Hotel offers guests modern and trendy accommodation just a few miles from Mykonos Airport. The spacious rooms have a modern feel, and feature private bathrooms with marble baths, air conditioning, minibars, in-room safes, satellite TV’s, alarm clocks and telephones. Reception can assist with laundry and basic business services, but the main focus at Gianoulaki is undoubtedly on the beautiful pool terrace, an ideal spot to watch the sunset with drink in hand. For those keeping in shape on holiday there is also a small gym on-site. A basic breakfast is available every morning, but the Noo Noo Café-Bar stays open till late and is a great spot for enjoying a drink or meal while gazing out over the pool terrace. As with many resort properties, many guests spent a lot of their time on the pool terrace. They really seemed to have enjoyed it, specifically mentioning that the poolside food and drink service was excellent. Also mentioned, as a welcome surprise, was that there never seemed to be a shortage of sun beds.
Guests are divided on whether the town of Mykonos could be said to be within walking distance. Most put walking time at about 30 minutes. But all are agreed that there are some handy services in the immediate area for guest looking to stock up on supplies.
There were quite a few negative comments about the breakfast. It is described as offering very limited choice, and seemingly overseen by an accountant trying to save a couple of pennies rather than a chef.
These two criticisms came up again and again, and were somewhat linked. Several guests mentioned that the Giannoulaki was very “rule based”, and any deviation from these rules was either frowned on, or sometimes even attracted a fine. Also, it seemed that the hotel wanted to charge for many things that most hotels would include as standard, especially four star hotels. It created a bit of an antagonistic atmosphere between staff and guests.
While they appreciated that there was one, some guests said the gym was so small and ill equipped it really couldn't serve its purpose.
