Positive Reviews
positive:
Off the beaten track location
Though it scarcely seems possible in central Paris, several guest mention that the hotel was just a little off the (tourist) beaten track. It is described as being down a small lane which does not seem to get a lot of tourist traffic.
positive:
Charming and quirky lift
While guests often seem to dislike the small lifts typical of older Parisian buildings, a number of guests here found it quaint and charming. Its smallness and antique nature sees to especially delight the younger children. Also, the hotel is described as only being four stories, so not too much of a walk for guest who are a bit claustrophobic.
positive:
Lovely showers
Though some considered the rooms small, many were happy to report that the showers in their rooms were both large, and of the walk-in variety. But unlike many did not seem to flood the entire bathroom floor when in use.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Standard rooms a tad small
Like most hotels in Paris, space seems to at a premium at the Fontaines du Luxembourg. Quite a few guests who had booked the standard rooms observed that they were very small indeed. They may be best for guests who spend very little time in their rooms.
negative:
Showing some signs of age
While not mentioned by many guests, a couple did note that, to them, the hotel was looking maybe just a little “tired”, and could do with an update. There were indications, as of early 2016, that the hotel was indeed planning an update of some areas.
negative:
Breakfast a tad expensive
Guests didn't exactly say that the hotel breakfast was bad, just that, in their opinion, it was overpriced. Since it was not usually included in their room-rate, many simply opted to take their breakfast at a nearby café.
