This was perhaps the most common, and most serious, complaint. Guests felt not only that the rooms and public areas of the hotel were out of date, bur that they had clearly not been taken care of over the years, and were now looking very shabby. They also mentioned that it affected not only aesthetics, but functionality as well.
Guests not only felt that the facilities were not up to standards, but that the prices charged were far too high for what was offered. They felt that, given what the hotel offers, the room rates should be very low. In reality, they felt that they were in the mid range.
Guests really didn’t like the area the hotel was in. Many spoke of prostitutes and other seedy and/or illegal activity taking place openly in the surrounding streets. To some it meant they didn’t feel safe staying there, for others it was just a case of it being unattractive.
