A number of restaurants including the dining and shopping area at Southland Mall are a few minutes’ drive away. Local attractions include Hayward Japanese Gardens, Kennedy Park and Oakland Zoo which are within 20-minutes’ drive.

Next door to a noisy freeway
Best Western Plus Inn of Hayward is located beside a busy freeway and some guests complained that the hotel is poorly insulated against the sound of traffic.

The hotel provides free Wi-Fi access but not all guests found it to be a high-speed service. Some guests experienced difficulty connecting to the Wi-Fi while others found the connection to be slow at times.

The cleaning service is hit and miss with housekeeping staff making over sites at times so that some guests experienced a low standard of cleanliness. Complaints included that the curtains were dirty, some surfaces were dusty as were areas behind furniture, the carpets were not always cleaned or vacuumed, some furnishings including bathroom towels were found to be stained and hair from previous guests has been found in the bathroom. Some guests also reported that the rooms had a unpleasant lingering odor.
