About GCC Hotel and club
Situated on the northern outskirts of Mumbai, near the Sanjay Ghandi National Park, GCC Hotel and Club offers comfortable modern accommodation with an extensive health club attached.
The rooms have that sleek and modern feel, but with lovely traditional accents as well. Each features en-suite bathroom with hairdryer, flat screen TV and tea/coffee station.
Pride of place at GCC definitely goes to its health club. Guests receive free access, and facilities include swimming pools, tennis court, squash court, full gymnasium and much, much more. Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property.
There are a number of dining venues on-site including the Olivia Restaurant, which serves Mediterranean cuisine and the Namaste all-vegetarian restaurant. The Pool Side Café offers a more casual environment for dining and drinking.
GCC Hotel is about two miles from Mira Station, from were commuter trains in to Mumbai can be boarded. Mumbai itself is 17 miles to the south.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent health club facilities
The GCC is perhaps as well known for its health club as its accommodation, and guests felt that it was very well equipped indeed. As well as a gym and a pool, it had many other sports available, so active guests really felt well catered for.
positive:
Staff pleasant and accommodating
It was very difficult to find a bad word written about the staff. They were almost universally described as welcoming and friendly, with a very professional demeanour that gave guests a lot of confidence that they would do what they said they would do.
positive:
Rooms were quite spacious
Whatever other problems guests had with their rooms, their size certainly wasn't one of them. On the contrary, many guest felt that the rooms were actually quite a bit bigger than they really needed to be.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Many functions held at the hotel
This was without a doubt the most common, and most serious, complaint. Guests mention that the hotel is an immensely popular event location, with multiple events like weddings, conferences and product launches happening simultaneously. This resulted in a kind of frantic atmosphere that they really didn't appreciate.
negative:
Poor quality food in main restaurants
While there were some positive reviews of the food they were very hard to find. Most guests had several complaints about the food, saying it was overpriced, bland and lacking in variety. One exception seemed to be the Namaste Vegetarian Restaurant, which was said to be quite good.
negative:
Considerable distance from Mumbai
It is a bit of an exaggeration to claim that this hotel is in Mumbai. It is in fact beyond the city's northern limits and very far indeed from the downtown area. Guests said that it really wasn't a suitable hotel if you wanted to explore the heart of the city.
