Positive Reviews
positive:
Top quality food throughout
Without a doubt it was the quality of the food coming out of the kitchens at Garryvoe that most impressed guests. While all meals were described as excellent, the dinner at Samphire seemed to receive the most praise. The food was said to be of extremely high quality, and presented in a way that only enhanced the dining experience.
positive:
Impressive and extensive heath centre
Like many hotels in Ireland, the Garryvoe has a health centre attached to it. Guests get free access, and were unanimous in saying that it was extremely well equipped. While they enjoyed all the facilities, it seems that it was the gorgeous indoor pool that most impressed them.
positive:
Great spot overlooking the beach
It seems that guests really appreciated being close to the beach. While there is a road between the hotel and beach, there were direct views from the beach facing rooms. All loved the views over the wild beach, while the more energetic found it a lovely place to walk and absorb the atmosphere.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No in-room fridge
While not often mentioned, it was pointed out that the rooms, while otherwise very well appointed, contained no minibar. Guests found this omission inexplicable and would have appreciated the ability to keep a drink or fresh milk nicely chilled.
negative:
Garryvoe a bit too quiet
While many guests loved the peace and quiet of the little town, this tranquillity naturally did not suit all guests. Those who were looking for a lively nightlife, for example, were very sorely disappointed.
negative:
Cave Bar needs an update
Curiously, there were a number of guests who specifically mentioned this bar as being very dated, and in serious need of a full revamp. The rest of the hotel was very stylish and they felt this bar let it down.
