About Winterfell Welcome to "Winterfell", our mountain cabin hide-away! Located just off a main road in Arnold, the house has easy access to Highway 4, and from there up to Bear Valley, or down to Murphy's. We have three guest suites that include one bedroom + a private bath. We do not charge a cleaning fee, and have only a one night minimum stay (four night maximum stay). Originally build in 1955, the original structure was just a one-room cabin. In 2006, the owner built three additional bedrooms on the top floor, and the large bedroom. The new space is all framed out in steel, not wood. Your Space Each suite is made up of a large bedroom (one queen bed, plus one folding, roll-away bed) and one bathroom. While there is no formal kitchen, we have set each suite up with some very basic kitchen functions - small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. A small gas BBQ grill is available upon request. You are welcome to use any supplies we have placed in the suite. We provide a complimentary array of snacks and beverages. Please help yourself. Please put the dirty dishes in the black, plastic tub provided. There are no common areas in the main house, just the suite itself. A washer and dryer are located in the downstairs suite that the guests may use (in moderation). On rare occasions, we may need to access the washer and dryer in that unit. However, we will never enter without your permission. WARNING - This is a semi-country setting, with lots of wildlife, including black bears, foxes, skunks, bobcats, deer, mountain lions, and squirrels. Please do not try to be "friendly" with these wild beasts. Keep your distance, and PLEASE don't try to feed them. Feeding wildlife can lead to them becoming pests, and the need for their destruction by wildlife managers. Off Street Parking - We provide one off-street parking spot for our guests at the top of the driveway. In winter, some folks are leery of driving up and into that spot. Some folks may prefer to park at the bottom and walk up. That is fine with us. There are a couple of parking spots at the bottom of the driveway that we keep clear for this purpose. Many of the houses near us do not have full time residents. Some may only have people for a few weeks out of the year. This makes the area very quiet and serene. When other folks are around, they prefer the solitude..... So, please, we ask that our guests not make any loud noises, such as partying, barking dogs, and loud music. The only public transportation in the area is a county bus that runs up and down Highway 4. We may be able to help with some transportation from and to Highway 4, upon arrangement. The Television The TV in each suite is internet connected only. There is no cable. We are signed up with several internet TV channels, a list of which is next to the TV. The TV is operated only with the buttons on it's side, and then the internet channels are selected using the small remote. There is also a small selection of DVDs in the cabinet below the TV. We have put a selection of board games and cards for your use in each suite. Pets One well-behaved dog is permitted in the Winterfell #2 suite. Sorry, no cats are allowed in the unit because of allergies. Please allow your dog outside (on a lease) to relieve itself, and pick up any feces it might leave. We do not recommend letting your dog run free due to the presence of wild animals, including skunks. Under no circumstances can you leave your dog unattended in the unit.
