A stay at our Boutique Hotel is an experience. A feeling that you get through the intimate, warm atmosphere and the attention paid to all the details. We have made De Gouverneur as comfortable and practical as possible, whereby we have retained the original layout of the buildings as much as possible. That means that you occasionally come across a small step-down, a surprising glimpse or another nice element of the house and that gives that special to De Gouverneur. The Governor is small-scale and a big advantage of this small-scale is that you as a guest can look forward to exceptional hospitality and personal service during your stay with us. Our charming stylish rooms are located in two stately national monuments next to each other. One of them was inhabited by Petrus Hofstede, the first Governor of Drenthe. The Governor is situated in a magnificent location, in the historic heart of Assen, on De Vaart with its many monumental buildings. You can check in at De Salon, our cozy lounge room where we also serve breakfast. In the Salon there is also opportunity to drink a cup of coffee or tea, a glass of fresh or perhaps a good glass of wine while enjoying the beautiful view over De Vaart. Parking is free with us and on private property. Within walking distance of De Gouverneur you will find the beautiful Drents museum, Theater De Nieuwe Kolk, the Asserbos, an extensive shopping center and the many cozy restaurants that Assen is rich. De Gouverneur is also a great base for cycling or walking tours. The Gouverneur is 5 minutes by car from the A28 and 10 minutes from the station.
