Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent central location
This was by far the thing that most impressed guest about Fontecruz Lisboa. The hotel is right by Avenido da Liberdade, a grand shopping avenue, and also close to many cafes and bars. Guests never felt they needed to travel far to get to interesting places to eat and shop.
positive:
Decent size rooms
Unusually for a city hotel, it was difficult to find guests who were unhappy with the size of their rooms. On the contrary, several guests expressed their (pleasant) surprise at the large size.
positive:
Funky and hip decor
Though some elements of the décor were not loved by all, a great many certainly appreciated the effort that went into designing a very trendy and hip hotel. The guests who liked the décor felt a bit like they were in a glamorous location.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Very dark colour scheme
While many guests praised the funky and unique design, others were not quite as impressed. They considered the colour scheme used too dark, causing a somewhat gloomy atmosphere to pervade. Perhaps fine for a nightclub or trendy restaurant, but too much to use throughout the property.
negative:
No tea or coffee making facilities
It seems cultural differences reared there head again, in the form of confusion surrounding tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. Hotels in many countries do not have a history of including these. Whether Portugal is one is unclear, but the fact is there are no such facilities in Fontecruz Lisboa, leaving some disappointed, and a little thirsty.
negative:
Breakfast is extremely expensive
While reviews of the quality of the breakfast were mixed, most people go on to mention that it was extremely expensive if not included in the room-rate. Most advised that it would be better to simply grab a breakfast at one of the many nearby cafes.
